Country
music shows, horseback riding, tour homes, caves, carriage rides,
boat tours, a wildlife refuge, go-cart tracks, miniature golf and
vintage steam train rides are among the multitude of activities
here.
Art has an
important place in this creative town; the May Festival of the Arts
continues to showcase the best of poets, actors, writers and artists
of every medium. Art galleries are visual feasts of new works and
well-known talent. In the summer months, Opera in the Ozarks at
Inspiration Point offers some of the finest young opera performers
today, in classic works and new tales. Local community choral groups
frequently perform in downtown Basin Park, which provides a natural
setting for performances by musicians and actors.
Festivals
are a Eureka specialty; celebrate Blues & Jazz music, antique cars,
arts & crafts, folk arts, cuisine, and all manner of special
interests. Holidays are always special times, with events,
activities and music. The town celebrates the Christmas Holiday
Season with a series of dazzling events beginning the second weekend
in November, when the town is magically transformed into an
old-fashioned storybook village. The Historic District twinkles with
thousands of lights, tracing a cheerful path through the hills.
