Eureka Springs began as a legend of healing among
the native tribes of the region; tales were passed on concerning the "Medicine Spring" flowing from the hillside. In the late 1800s, word spread to the cities about the marvels of the spring.

When people learned of the cool, healing waters, they packed up everything they owned and headed for this tiny town in search of rejuvenation. What they found was a town sprouting to life amid clean air, tall trees and clear, sparkling water flowing from hundreds of springs throughout the area.
  
Many health-seekers claimed "Eureka! I
have found it!" and dedicated themselves to bringing more visitors to the newly-named Eureka Springs. Their dream was to share the magic of Eureka Springs with
all who would come.
